The Indiana Minority Health Coalition Luncheon, a “Journey of Health: One Heartbeat at a Time,” will be held at 11:30 a.m. on April 9 at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown, 350 W. Maryland Street. A joint program presented by the Indiana Minority Health Coalition and the American Heart Association, the luncheon will bring awareness to Hoosiers about the nation’s leading cause of death, heart disease, and will shine a spotlight on disparity issues related to heart disease and stroke and their devastating effects on minorities. This event will feature local survivors who have learned to live with heart disease and stroke and the resulting effects of these crippling diseases. Peoples Burn Foundation Benefit Show: Michael Israel's Heroes & Icons Tour

On Thursday night, April 10, at 7:30 p.m., famed international artist Michael Israel will perform his live ‘ART IN CONCERT’ show at the Indiana Roof Ballroom, at 140 West Washington St. The artist will be performing a number of 6 foot by 4 foot artworks onstage including one of his signature artworks, “Hero” depicting a fire fighter rescuing a young child, during the Indianapolis stop of his Heroes and Icons Tour. Following Michael Israel’s Indianapolis performance, a live auction of the performed artworks will be conducted to raise funds for the Peoples Burn Foundation, an Indianapolis based burn foundation nationally recognized for its burn prevention and firefighter burn safety training programs. HeartSounds Benefit Concert

St. Thomas Clinic announces the next concert in its series to raise funds for its mission of providing free medical care to uninsured residents of Johnson County. HEARTSOUNDS is composed of Deborah and Jonathan Hutchison, singers and songwriters who began their musical partnership as winners of the 1973 Northeastern Intercollegiate Folk Festival in upstate New York. They’ve continued to perform ever since with various bands, as soloists and as a duo. Along the way, they’ve produced five albums of original music on their own Heartsounds label and toured in 37 states and the District of Columbia. Renditions of Nature

Need something to do with the whole family? Make your way to Eagle Creek Park’s Earth Discovery Center, located within the park, for their annual Renditions of Nature Art Exhibit, Contest and Sale. The show is free with regular park admission ($5 per vehicle). This exhibit will showcase some of the best artists in the Midwest in the categories of watercolor, watercolor pencil, pastel, chalk, pencil, charcoal, sculpture and pen and ink. Artists will be on hand to discuss their work, demonstrate techniques and share colorful stories. Show entries will be for sale as well. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these art pieces will help support future art exhibits at Eagle Creek Park. Each weekend, various artists will give classroom workshops for the public to follow along and learn new techniques. Sign up and bring your own supplies or just come to watch! 17th annual Indy International Wine Competition
